Iris Switch with Air Conditioning

Hi! Trying to find out if my SmartSwitch with will work with an outside air conditioning unit for our doghouse. It's a 2500 BCU Climtate Right on 110V. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Iris Switch with Air Conditioning

You didn't mention which smart switch you have, but most of them are only rated at 100 watts.  Since the 2500 BCU Climate Right Mini Portable Heater and Air Conditioner uses 480 watts for cooling and 900 watts for heating I would say no.

This one should work, but it's not cheap:

Unless you only use it for cooling.  I run a similar unit with a Gen-1 plug and it's been fine for the past two summers.

Smart plugs are rated in amps so they are different than smart switches.

15 amps x 110 volts = 1650 watts
