Iris going away?

Re: Iris going away?

According to several (Bloomberg, etc.) Lowes has announced that it is dropping the Iris line and getting out of the smart field as far as it's own name. That is sad because I have room after room of dedicated Iris products. I am now moving over to GE zwave plus products which work well with Iris and Alexa. If I have to I may move to Samsung Smartthings, which Lowes also sells but it is terrible that with so much invested they would **edited** off Iris. Who would support updates now? Of course they dumped Jimmy Johnson and closed stores in Canada, California and Mexico as a "cost saving measure".

Re: Iris going away?

They just released a 3rd Gen hub along with the news that they are getting out of the home automation and are looking to sell Iris.

Not sure if I should buy just yet since lowes looks to stop support and sell off Iris to some other company.

Iris contact sensors

Lowe's recently had what I was told was 3rd generation contact sensors on sale. The ad said "while supplies last". Not sure why it says that if this is the latest version? Belo's number is 10231 7 9. The prior version is 877-6399. They look a little bit different. Is there any real difference between the two? One of them is advertised as "2 Sensor"

Hi,

Iris isn't going anywhere. We are continuously adding support for new devices. We've recently added Sengled, Sylvania and Hue lighting to the Iris platform, as well as brands like Leviton, Nest and Bosch. We are also always adding support for additional devices by brands we already support such as GE. We also have a lot of exciting new stuff in the pipeline including new cameras, new devices and new third-party integrations. I know it can be frustrating not to have an exact timeline but we would prefer to deliver when something is ready rather then meet an artificial deadline. I hope you will stick with us and give us a chance as I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I got an e-mail from IRIS saying that it is shutingdown March 31st.  I now have 60 days to redo 3 house?  One house alone has 45 devices and is heavily dependent on the devices.  I am very unhappy with IRIS and Lowes.  I have spent thousands on the setups  Thanks Mike!

The team here was as surprised as anyone could be when we found out the news. It really stinks and wish it could have turned out differently.

Re: Iris going away?

try looking into Hubitat www.hubitat.com

Its local control so even if the company were to go away your investment will continue to work since it doesn't depend on a cloud-based solution like Iris or SmartThings and it is significantly faster responding.  It will work with the existing Iris version 2 devices you have. I currently am using Iris windows contacts and keypads, Schlage locks on my system after switching off of SmartThings. SmartThings kept going offline due to the cloud-based system and getting slower.
